SchoolPage was conceived by Mrs. Dana Jandhyala, who with her Montessori background, believes that the customized needs of every child can be better met through a combination of the current educational system and individualised tutoring. Through her experience, she understands that it is particularly important for developing children to be given as much individual attention as possible to help them be successful in a world that is ever-more dynamic and challenging. This is strongly supported by research. Benjamin Bloom, a prominent educational psychologist, observed “a tutored student with individualized attention was above 98% of the students in conventional tutoring (or mass tutoring)”.1 Since it would be impossible to provide individual attention to the needs of every child physically, Dana turned to her friends and family to find a technical solution to meet the needs of the market. During this search, she was introduced to Pradeep Pai, who had worked for several years in marketing information systems and electronic educational content to schools in various parts of India. Together, they spent one-year identifying and collating the best technologies available in the market and marry them with the best available content to offer a one-of-its-kind interactive online tutorial. With the concept and technology in place the third part of the SchoolPage solution required some of the world’s leading thought and thinkers in the field of online tuition to be brought together. While there are large numbers of great teachers available throughout the world, great teaching and great tutoring are very different in many ways and require very different approaches. There are also many differences between effective classroom teaching and effective online tutoring methodolgies. When Adam Hopewell was brought in to lead the SchoolPage team as the CEO his first mission was to work with other global academics and create the unique SchoolPage e-Tutoring System (the STS) which is based on Richard E. Mayer’s ‘Cognitive Theory of Multimedia Learning’. With an emphasis on creating a system that was engaging, evolved, and efficient the STS is an highly structured academic system that ensures better engagement, retention, and rapid results through the use of a 9 stage organisational structure that is used in every SchoolPage session. It includes the regular use of cognitive tools such as Mind Mapping, self-diagnosis tools such as Comfort Boxes, and Learning Outcomes that are highly student centric. The outcome of this ongoing quest is SchoolPageTM and its unique e-Tuition - provided for the students of the world through the latest in technology, and academically structured through adherence to the SchoolPage e-Tutoring System (STS).
