The Reading Room is an after school and weekend activity center based out of Adyar conducting activities at INDIRANAGAR and Besant Nagar for children between 4 and 15 years of age focusing on enhancing their 3 C’s – Confidence, Communication and Creativity with due emphasis on improving their Soft Skills.Our programs, Smart Kidz, Kathai Paar/Story Theatre and Reader Leader are developed based on our 7 plus years of working experience in Tier 1, 2 and 3 schools in Bangalore which includes children from various social and economic backgrounds and by working with various NGO’s. Our Reading program for the students is aimed at increasing their LSRW skills in English. Smart Kidz programme includes Public speaking, Dramatics, Debates, Quizzing, News Report and Creative Writing. The Kathai Paar session is a Personality development program for juniors, which focuses on improving their soft skills through stories telling and Story theater. Detailed description of our courses: Reader Leader Reading Classes for children between 4 and 10 years • Reading program for the students is aimed at increasing their LSRW skills in English;(LISTENING /SPEAKING / READING/WRITING) • Promote appreciation of literature and language and to create an interest in reading. • Introducing reading as an enjoyable activity by providing the right tools and techniques would help the children to kick start their reading habit. Ages 4 to 6 : Focus is on the listening and speaking comprehension Ages 6 to 8 : Focus is on the listening and speaking comprehension with emphasis on reading skills Ages 8 to 10 : Focus is on the listening, speaking, reading skills with emphasis on writing Skills Kadhai Paar / Story Theater • We encourage children to perform for famous Indian folk tales, Fairy Tales, for Stories from Panchatantra, Aesop’s and Jataka tales and we welcome their own stories. • Children will be trained to make masks and simple properties to use in their plays. • This session improves their confidence level, communication skills and helps them to become a good team player and helps in boosting their self esteem along with imbibing leadership skills.
